"merit scholarship" to VCU

This past weekend I received an email from VCU admissions informing me that I had been accepted to their university and awarded a “merit scholarship.” It did not specify the amount or conditions of this scholarship at all. I am currently waiting for the student information packet to come in the mail, which might disclose this information, but at the moment I am quite confused. When I looked at the merit scholarship information posted on VCU’s official site, it only listed their really big, $8k+ offers. Does anybody know if VCU also awards smaller merit scholarships as well (maybe around the $1k-$2.5K range)? This seems more likely to me than the university awarding me sizable merit aid without informing me of the actual amount.

Also, if it is relevant, I submitted my common app deadline before Nov 15 and plan to apply to their honors college.

All and any insight is appreciated! Thank you!

Idk, but my daughter got the same letter. I think she’d qualify for one of the larger merit awards, but they didn’t indicate an amount either. She’s also been getting emails asking her to apply after she’s already been accepted, so I think they’ve got some kinks to work out.

Best bet is to email admissions to ask.

.

Wouldn’t it be one of their larger ones? An ACT 34 must be high for VCU, right?

There are a number of named scholarships at Virginia Commonwealth as well:
