Merit Scholarships

I just received the Regents Scholarship which is an award of $1500 (nonrenewable). Has anyone else received a different merit scholarship for the class of 2017? If so post the name, amount, and your stats.

34 ACT, Valedictorian, 4.0 UW GPA, In State, LSA

I received the Regents Scholarship as well. Same amount, nonrenewable.

34 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA, In State, CoE

I did too. In-state, 33 ACT, 3.9 GPA.

I believe there is another scholarship but I forget what it’s called that has to do with diversity and the area you live in and less so with academics. Other than that I haven’t heard anything.

My S was awarded one also: 34 ACT, ranked 1 of 242, 4.0 U of M uw gpa, in state, LSA

My S was awarded Regent too. ACT 36 SAT 2330 UW GPA 3.998, Instate LSA. does anybody know when other larger merit scholarships are announced?

My DD got the Regent, too. ACT: 32 GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.5+ W, Instate LSA. I thought this would be the only scholarship, so it takes UM off the table for us.

I’m out of state and received a letter stating that I had been been nominated to apply for the Rogel Award of Excellence. On the Michigan website it states that this award is based on both academic performance and financial need. I was instructed to send in financial aid documents to complete my application for this award. I highly doubt that I will qualify financially for this award but if I did it would be great as Awards range between $9,000-$14,000 per year for all 4 years in additional it said Michigan would meet all of my demonstrated need beyond this award even though I am out of state. Did anyone else get this letter or know anything more about this award or other out of state scholarships.

@rugbyfield: I got the letter too, also OOS. I’m not sure I remember that the letter said we definitely will get “demonstrated need met” if we receive the award, though I’ve misplaced the letter and don’t have much to look at now. I just remember it as saying 9-14k, and then a possibility of full need met.

I just received the Jean Fairfax Scholarship. It’s for $5,000 each semester (Fall and Winter only) for a 4-year total of $40,000.
I was also invited to apply for the LEAD scholarship, which could be up to $40,000 over 4 years and an MLK scholarship, which would be $20,000 over 4 years.

GPA 4.0, ACT 30, SAT 2100, Out-of-State

Same as DesiGirl123–Jean Fairfax Scholarship

Also Engineering students get $5,000 extra, making it a total of $45,000 over 4 years.

GPA 3.7, ACT 31, SAT 2100, Out of State, LSA

Hi, I also received the Jean Fairfax Scholarship- 4.0 GPA, 33 ACT, LSA, OOS.

But my question is, are there still some other scholarships out there, ones that they just haven’t made a decision on? I’m talking about the ones for which all applicants are automatically considered. I originally thought that I’d received no money at all, seeing as no scholarships were mentioned in the initial acceptance letter. But now I’ve just received the letter about the Jean Fairfax Scholarship and I’m wondering if there’s any chance I will receive just a little more money, before I stop considering Michigan/make a deposit elsewhere.

@MidwestGirl, did you just get the letter?

Yep! I got the letter in the mail last week.

MidwestGirl7,
Same situation! I’m also OOS and got the Jean Fairfax but would need other merit aid in order to consider Michigan. I emailed the financial aid office about it and they said there is a chance that there are more scholarships you could receive automatically and they would likely come within 8 weeks after you receiving your acceptance letter… so I guess sometime in February. People on this forum told me there is a good possibility of getting other merit offers so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Thanks, maryland13! It’s a relief to know that there is still -some- hope of getting more merit money. Hopefully people will continue posting to this forum as they receive scholarships, so we can get an idea of when these offers are being sent out.

Anyone else get an invite to apply to the Telluride Residential college? Full room/board scholarship? Not sure if this went to everyone already admitted to LSA or some select group.

@OHmyDD95
I also got that email and am wondering the same thing. The application is really intensive, anyone know how selective it is? (ie how many people apply?)

Did anyone else get invited to join the M-stem at Michigan? And does anyone know anything about it? It says they will pay students $3000 to join, and you start UofM this summer…also no aid for my D even thou we are OOS, ACT 33, tons of EC and leadership and top 1% of class and gpa 4.3 unweighted…??

Got an Engineering Honor Scholarship! 20k/year, so happy. I was admitted OOS EA if anyone’s wondering.

I really hope that, if I’m admitted, I get something like the Regents Scholarship. I’m OOS and far from rich.
