Is it possible to receive more than one scholarship, if qualified (i.e. Academic Excellence & Leadership)?

Or does UConn only award one scholarship per student?

Or does UConn only award one scholarship per student?

Usually only one scholarship.

There are instances where both are given and the student has received full tuition scholarship. A recent graduate of my HS recieved both. See the acceptance thread as I recall reading about one such lucky poster.

Hmm yet I’d like to know about this too. I was recently accepted to the Honors Program, and received a full tuition scholarship, but I was nominated for the Nutmeg Scholarship as well. Are merit awards final, or will they be changed when an official letter goes out? And for the Presidential Scholars Award for Valedictorians and Salutatorians…what if your school does not rank, or that kind of status is not calculated until 3rd quarter senior year?

Again, it is possible to receive multiple merit scholarships, but it is unlikely.

If that information is not calculated until a later time, admissions may wait until such time, contact your school and have them calculate it now, or not consider you.

OK never mind I just got a letter in the mail today saying that they had received my application for the Nutmeg Scholarship, and that if I did receive the scholarship (slim chance haha) it would replace the Leadership Scholarship I’ve already received.

Does anyone know if scholarship info is sent at a later date from acceptance. Son admitted approx. a week ago and there was no mention of scholarship. Did notice those admitted to honors college got scholarship info with acceptance letter. Just wondering if scholarship is still possible.

Our D got scholarship WITH acceptance letter.

Our S got accepted in the school of business (Marketing) - no scholarship (out-of-state)

I also have a question about the scholarships. My son just got accepted into the honors program (and we are really happy about this…). He got an academic excellence scholarship (not 1/2 tuition by any means). This is also great, but he wonders why other kids he knows did not get into the honors program but were awarded 1/2 tuition scholarships…? I can’t answer that one for him… unless it is timing of the application…??

^ well doing a bit more reading of the letter it seems the major he applied to is one in the “New England Regional Agreement” so he already gets a huge tuition break for that, plus the academic excellence award. Wow, its hard to beat that.

Now the only question we need to clear up is that the letter "welcomes him to the Storrs campus as a “Commuter” for the Fall 2010 semester. We live in MA so we are hoping this is a mistake or typo of some kind. He obviously wants to live on campus.

^ He may have applied as a commuter student. This needs to be rectified with the admissions office immediately if he expects to live on campus.

Question: If your admissions folder had no scholarship or honors program notification that means you didn’t qualify and have to wait for need based decisions, right?

Yes, I received word in my acceptance letter about the Honors program and there was a separate letter in the folder with merit scholarship info.

Good luck on the financial aid front!
