Messed up my sophomore year...how much are my chances effected?

I'm a junior who's been aspiring to go to maybe not HYSP but a top-level UC like Berkley or a higher end private school like UChicago.

Rank: idk

Do you think that the sophomore year shut the door on my chances on getting into a second-tierish college? I kind of suffered through some personal issues and most of those Bs were just 89ish grades.

Naah. I don’t think so. I know a lot of people who get accepted to UCB, UCLA, and such even with one C or so. If you’re consider ivy… Then you MIGHT be out of hope. But it won’t hurt to try right? :D

yeah bro , those Bs. Like i don’t know if you could even get into a college in cuba with those grades.

It’s really impressive that you were able to get an -A in all your AP classes for junior year!!!:)

Have fun in community college.

But in all actuality, that is quite good.

I’m happy for you! When I first read this post, I was expected mean and rude responses. These are actually very nice.
Oh, and you should be fine if everything else like your essays and what not are great. You showed massive improvement, which looks good.

I wouldn’t think it would be a huge problem…you show you can do the work in freshman and junior year, and schools like UChicago especially seem inclined to not look at the transcript in a “three Bs will kill you” way.

You should be fine, especially because of your strong junior year.
