I’m a currently an undergraduate student looking to transfer from a SUNY to a community college. My current GPA is 2.1… i am 21 right now. I’ve been in and out of school after my first year of school due to family issues. I medically withdrew the Fall 2016 semester with anxiety and depression. Coming from an asian family, I was looked down on and had no support which made my anxiety and depression worse. I went to a financial consultation and the consultant recommended me to transfer to a community college and boost up my gpa. I want to pursue my future as a PA but I honestly don’t know where to start and what to do. As of now, I’m planning on applying to a community college and get my associates degree and then transfer again to pursue my bachelor’s degree. Would it be better for me to do a program at community college or when I transfer to pursue my bachelors degree? I’m so lost. Please help me.
Go talk with an admissions officer at your local community college. Find out what they have to offer you. They might have a shorter career course you can follow that will get you into a job sooner. Once you are supporting yourself, your parents won’t be able to prevent you from getting mental health help. Until your anxiety and depression are under control, you aren’t going to be able to get the grades necessary for admission to a PA program, and you aren’t going to be able to handle the stress of that program. Please set yourself up for success by getting yourself healthy.
Wishing you all the best!
