I have a very difficult situation, i am an undergraduate who attended a previous Community college in NC and did not do well in my classes. I believe my gpa was at a 1.0. I was not able to keep up with the classes due to my adhd disability and was not able to grasp on to the material that was being taught. After finishing one year at the institution i decided to move to NY with family members. I was told to skip out on a semester and was also told that i was cut off financial aid. The adviser at my school told me that changing schools wouldn't affect the enrollment process but now i would have to pay out of pocket until i met the requirements to have my aid reinstated. I submitted an application for several community colleges in ny for the upcoming term but with a low gpa i doubt any school will accept me. Are there any alternatives i can do so i can enroll into an institution again. Can i enroll as a non-degree student at a community college and raise my gpa and then apply again?

Make an appointment with the admissions office at the closest community college. Ask about enrollment in non-degree status, and ask about enrolling in degree status but taking just one class at a time. That might also be an option.

Good luck!
