mexican american chance

mexican american from miami, florida.

here is my score breakdown (just got it after taking my first shot at the new sat):

verbal: 710
math: 690
writing: 680

basically a 1400... + writing = 2080

sat IIs:
us history = 700
bio m = 680

my gpa for grades 7 - 11 is a 4.0 unweighted. not a single B. rank 1/~550
i have taken 5 APs. I will have 10 by the time i graduate.

outstanding everything else.

should I apply? i've been considering yale and princeton for premed. not entirely sure. i think i have a shot at princeton, but not sure where i am in the scope of yale.

I would be SCHOCKED if you did not get in. Congrats, welcome to the Princeton class of 2010. I know ppl are gonna come in and insult me, but i have seen a whole lot "less" than what this person has had with his URM status. I would be realllllly surprised if you didn't get in. These schools salivate over ppl like you :p!:

i would be SHOCKED if you could learn how to spell "shocked". i agree with collegekid1988, being a URM with great sat scores, you should definitely have a chance at those ivy league schools.

i hope so. although, i really would wish it wouldn't come down to a URM thing. i've busted my butt and really this is only 1/2 my application.

I agree with the others. What do your ECs look like?

i don't really want to say. i just wanted to get down the two most important things. sat and gpa.

thanks.

Your EC's could be much more important than you think. College isnt just about the #'s.

Well, stats open the door for you. It's your ECs and the other distinguishing personal factors which push you through the door.

In my opinion, you have a very good chance of getting in; I would be surprised if you did not get in, and if you didn't, it would probably be something with your essays or recommendations that the adcoms didn't like.

I don't know about Princeton, but for Yale, you need one more SAT II.

I agree with everyone who has posted so far. As a URM, you have a pretty decent chance of acceptance. Congratulations on being valedictorian!

I would apply, but I wouldn't invest my heart in getting into Yale. There are a lot of people who are URMs who have stats that would get them in either way. If I were you I'd work on those SAT IIs and get them 750-800 range, then you'd have a really strong chance. The SAT II score is the easiest to improve as well.

Yeah...I got a lot of similar comments yet my GPA far surpasses my more modest SAT score. I need to improve on my scores yet I lack the time because this summer everyday (my parents force me) I do like 5 hrs of community service and have to balance my time with 2 AP classes over the summer online at FLVS(florida virtual school). My application unfortunately will have everything really strong(!) especially with 13 Aps because my school BLOCK schedule only can fit 4 per year. The only weakness will be my STUPID SAT!!!
