MGMT 1B. Are the rumors true?

Ridiculously hard class from what I hear. I am thinking of taking it in the winter, but would it be doable if I took it with Econ 11 and Econ 41?

I am a freshman so I have no idea what to expect. I do want these prereqs out of the way though since I plan on graduating early.. I took Accounting 1(MGMT 1a) at a community college when I was in hs and I don't remember much about it. Is MGMT 1b heavily based on material taught in 1a?

Econ 11
Econ 41
MGMT 1b
Geog 5 (enrolled, but will probably drop if I sign up for 1b)

I hate how mgmt 1b is 8 am and I am pretty sure I will miss some lectures. Is it necessary to go to all the lectures to do well in class?

The prof teaching econ 11 is pretty bad too....

bumpppppppppppppp

If you have 1B with Ravetch, then yes it will be very difficult. I’m not sure who’s teaching Econ 11 now, but I would suggest toning down your schedule a bit if you’re planning to get into Biz Econ.

^^^ I agree, If I were you I would keep the easy GE and drop one of the Econ classes…

It is my understanding that a firm grasp on the first course in accounting is essential for success in the second, regardless of who happens to be teaching it or where it is taught. I would imagine that you’d be at a disadvantage since you have waited some time since the first course.

^Not exactly true.

The material in 1b is of a different nature than 1a, so you aren’t exactly going to be using what you did in 1a for 1b work. If you dont know where debits and credits go (left or right?!?!), you will be in trouble though.

^haha I remember the basics

would it help if I re-took 1a at UCLA? Or would I be fine going with 1b?

So drop one of the econs and go with MGMT? I need at least 3 classes. I think the prof teaching econ 41 is pretty good though so I will take that for sure.

Oh and how hard is Math 32a? I know I don’t need it for bizecon, but I plan to minor/double major in math related field…

Its my opinion that you don’t need 1A for 1B. I did fine in 1B (Ravetch) despite not learning much in 1A (I did cram study for all of 1A and didnt learn much). At the same time though, you want your load to be light to fit in adequate studying for Ravetch.
