Miami of Ohio versus University of Missouri for ChE

Does anyone have any knowledge of either of these schools in terms of their ChE programs? Both look great but I just am having a hard time determining which one has a better ChE program. Is there a reputable list somewhere what aggregates/rates ChE programs?
Thanks so much!

Generally speaking, Miami U is a very solid university, though it is not the best ChE department in Ohio. Neither is U of Missouri-Columbia the strongest ChE program in that state. Depending on your specific interest, particularly if it’s chemicals/process engineering/materials, I would choose Miami.

Mizzou is a mega-campus, while Miami is smaller, thus the student experience may appear to be more intimate to you. I would probably choose any ChE department in Ohio over Mizzou. There is lots of ChE manufacturing and research based in Ohio.

What’s your home state and what can you afford?

You want to ensure that the school you choose to go to has ABET accreditation in that particular program. Which one is better tends to be subjective. Neither of them are especially known for their engineering programs, but if you complete an engineering degree from an ABET accredited program (looks like both of them are) with at least a 3.0 GPA, that should likely get you an engineering job after graduation.

There are plenty of chemical manufacturing type of work going on in and around Missouri, as well. Ohio hardly has a monopoly on it. If I am being objective, Mizzou has plenty of ties in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas, both of which feature chemical manufacturing and, at least in the case of St. Louis, oil refining.
