Hi, I am a Californian who applied EA to Miami. I didn’t see an admissions thread for 2017, so I figured I’d start one (If one already exists please direct me to it). Good luck to everyone who is/has applying/applied!
@hbrunner - Off topic, but my son’s roommate last (freshman) year in the Honors dorm was from the Bay area. He was majoring in business and liked Miami a lot.
Does your son like the honors program? @Beaudreau
@hbrunner - Yes, but I have to say that honors is less important at Miami than at most other public universities. Because there are no PhD students at Miami, teaching is more important for professors and students generally get more attention.
Has anyone heard back from the school?
Nothing yet here. Thinking Dec 15.
I applied early action around the middle of October. Last year EA applicants heard a response on December 19th. Wishing I could hear back sooner as it is my top choice to go to school. LOVE MIAMI

Has anyone who applied Early Action heard back from Miami University in Ohio?
Nothing yet. Expecting mid December.
anyone know if they are definitely coming out in mid December? It says February 1st on their website but I realize they have released them earlier in the past years.
@hockeyguy91 I believe it depends on when a person applied. The deadline for EA was on December 1st, so I would assume that the people that applied around then would hear back a bit later than mid December. The people that applied in October or early/mid November will probably hear back the Friday or around the week that ED hears back. Again, this is all based on past years but I believe it should be the same for this year.
From past threads it seems that the first round of EA is December 20th. Most of this first group in recent years have well above average stats and seem admitted into the honors program. This could also be CC having high achieving members and I could be totally wrong.
Miami just sent me an email asking about my preferred name. Could this signify the preparation of letters for EA applicants? Admittedly, this is probably reading too much into a form email, but here’s to hoping!

I got that email as well about the name. I hope to get notified about acceptances around next week! We’ll see…
I emailed my admissions representative a few questions and she ended up telling me that “we won’t likely post your decision until February 1. We’ll email you a few days ahead of that to let you know its coming.”
Does anyone else’s application say Status: Complete?
