Miami OH EA 2017

Applied just before the deadline.
Hope I wont have to wait until February

@gleemputte my application says that

I do now believe that the first round of application decisions being sent out in December for Early Action will be the higher achieving students that applied to either the Honors/Scholars program or possibly the FSB.

@HSgirlsenior from previous years it seems like that is the trend.

My daughter also applied EA really early. She also got same “preferred” email. Her college councilor thought it was a good sign and thought she’d hear sooner than later. Last year my friends daughter applied in early December and found out mid January.

Two years ago, my’s son’s EA admission letter was dated 12/18 and his merit scholarship award was dated 12/22.

He loves it at Miami.

My coworker’s daughter got her acceptance last year on 12/20.

I thought that EA for december 1 gets back February 1

Who has visited? I have not visited yet but I am curious as to what other people think of the campus

@lovinit EA decisions should be received “no later than” Feb 1. It seems that in years past, EA decisions have come as early as mid December.

We have not visited but the campus consistently gets ranked as one of the most beautiful in the country.

My counsler got an email from Miami that they will begin to release decisions for EA applications that they have made it through on December 19th. They have not made it though all of them yet.

I’ve been on campus for a tour and for the summer scholars program and it is absolutely beautiful.

I applied EA in mid-October. Best of luck to everyone else!

@lovinit I visited earlier this year. The campus is quite secluded and surrounded by cornfields so if you are more of a city person that might not be the best option. The town itself is one of the best college towns I have seen. The “uptown” part of oxford is full of food places, bars, and shopping stores. The campus itself is gorgeous, and has brick buildings throughout and are walking distance from each other. There are students everywhere and it is bustling with activities. I fell in love with the campus, and it definitely is worth a visit. Make sure you visit while school is still in session!

@lovinit My son was accepted two years ago EA without visiting. His Make It Miami visit clinched it for him, even though it was still cold. My wife and I joined him for his dorm move in and we agreed that it is one of the prettiest campuses we have visited. Every building on campus is consistent architecturally. And Oxford is a great little college town. If shopping is your thing, Oxford is not your town, although the new Super Walmart on the edge of town has what you need for college. Dayton and Cincinnati are 35-40 miles away.

Our biggest gripe is air service. We live in Arizona and there are no direct flights to either Cincinnati or Dayton. And flights tend to be expensive. Cincinnati used to be a Delta hub, but neither city is a hub anymore.

I just saw this a few minutes ago. WalletHub just ranked Oxford as the number one college town in America.

I applied EA on September 2, completed September 16. Campus is amazing. I was there for a visit, back in April, and I spent two days there for Bridges. LOVE it. Everything is there for the college kids. Literally. Perfect for a college kid, not so great for anyone else lol. I really wanted a college in a city, but I love Oxford because it is totally dedicated to the students.

In my opinion, Miami is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Oxford is a neat, little college town.

thanks! Now I am trying to decide between Miami and KU… my parents say they are basically the same school but KU is cheaper and closer. Is that true?

@lovinit what do you want to study? My S also looked at KU (Kansas correct?). The schools offer similar educational opportunities, including things like study abroad. Campus “culture” is probably different in some ways. KU is a big basketball thing going on, for example. Look and feel of campus is different, but Lawrence campus is also very aesthetically pleasing and has Mass Ave shops and restaurants. Oxford has a strip of stores and restaurants too, slightly smaller (we didn’t check them out however).

Can anyone confirm that they are releasing a batch of decisions on Monday?
