Son got admitted as well on Friday night / Saturday morning into Engineering school (Mech. Eng.). No paperwork or scholarship notification yet, but being in-state, it’s still the cheapest option of my son’s top 3 schools. Hope to have a decision by this week.
As an international student who applied EA for honors and merit scholarships, I have not received a decision yet. I contacted the admissions office by e-mail and they informed me that for students in my situation, they send the I-20 along with the admission decision and they need to include all final scholarship information on that, so they can’t send them until they’ve chosen their finalists.
I guess I’ll have to wait a few more weeks (they said early 2019). I heard some in this forum were in the same situation to I hope this helps! Congratulations to everyone admitted
@lexluthor5 receive my packet in the mail today. No word on any scholarship. Just the basic admissions letter. Online portal provided make information about me than the letter I receive today. Guess we’ll wait until next week hopefully.
@adaline16 Too bad. What would change next week? I wouldn’t think they’d be sending another mailing, but previous years people did get the merit in the mail. I don’t recall seeing people get 2 pieces of mail last year though.
Need to make airfare plans to visit based on the merit. I need to confirm that the merit guarantee will be applicable to her case.
I just called admissions and the person who answered said another packet was going out this week that should arrive next week. I then got passed to an admissions counselor who said they are starting to be processed, but it could take until February to be notified. He did confirm that our daughter is well over the 3.5 GPA and that the minimum merit award the GPA/ACT combination is guaranteed.
I guess we’ll make our plans to visit sooner than later. I found good airfare and really don’t want to wait.
Hoping DS’ 3.7 GPA and 33 ACT is good enough for more than half tuition.
Edit to add - his freshman year’s 3.4 is costing him so much in scholarship money. So sad because he went from a public school to a private school known for their academic rigor.
@COboysmom It’s my understanding that guarantees you at least $20K/mo. I don’t think there’s any gray area at all. I’m going to make our plans based on that.
