Just got accepted to the University of Miami and University of Colorado at Boulder. Which would you choose and why?

Well, it depends on the program. I think both are top institutions. If location is a big factor for you, I'd definitely go with UMiami :)

Oh, and congratulations on the acceptances!

Disregarding academics, I'd choose Colorado for the mountains and such. Miami's too warm and, as a city, too party-oriented.

Do you want to know where we'd go? Or where we think you might be happiest? If the latter, tell us a little more about what you're interested in and what you want from a school/location.

And, congrats again on the options you have achieved.

Thanks everyone it really means a lot! Sorry, I just thought I'd throw out no information and see what you would choose for what reasons. I guess truthfully I just don't know too much about UMiami's student life. I am a biochemistry major so both schools offer great programs in that field. Although truthfully, I think at this point I'm more concerned about the difference in student life than I am in the actual academics. I feel I will get a great education at either institution, Miami is ranked higher, but I plan on dental school so rankings will not play a role like they would if I were going to wall st. I have until may to really decided so I'm definitely going to visit both campuses. Now I can throw out UArizona, Penn State and Michigan State and concentrate on my two top choices!

I think you are exactly right, burgler. You can give yourself a great education either place, so it is perfectly fine to choose based on campus feel. Visiting both is right on; be sure and sit in on classes, make sure you like the level of discussion and academics. As well as enjoying all that the locales and campuses have to offer. As well, you might check in with pre-professional advisers and see if anything they tell you about dental school admission support and results affects your thinking.

These were two choices that my son was considering a couple of years ago along with some others. He decided to go to UM. Your leisure activities will be vastly different at each school...swimming and beach vs. skiing and snowboarding. He also liked the diversity at UM with kids from all over the world. I guess your best bet is to visit each campus and see what feeling you get while there. I'm pretty sure that will determine where you go since they are so different. Let us know what you think. If I can answer any questions for you post them. Good luck.

burgler09, what college stats were you accepted to UM with?

just going to give this one last bump in hopes someone else cares to respond :D i'm visiting both in the next two weeks
