Michigan College of Engineering chances

Hi everyone, I ’m currently a high school senior and I ’m unsure of my chances getting into Michigan ’s College of Engineering for aerospace because of my low scores.

My unweighted GPA is a 3.73, but my weighted is 4.48
I got a composite ACT score of 30 with a 28 in Math, 27 in science, 35 in English, and 30 in Reading.
I plan to re-take the ACT one more time in December
Past AP classes that I have taken are: European history (5), Physics 1 (4), Biology (4), United States History (5), Calculus BC (5 both BC and AB), Spanish Language (4), English Language (4), and Macro (4).
My current classes include: AP Physics C, Philosophy honors, AP Literature, AP Stats, Engineering Design and Development, and AP Government.
ECs: NHS Eboard, Freshman Mentor & Advisory Leader, booth leader for a cultural fair for 2 years, committee head for student council, and JV Hockey
I ’m Filipino-American and also an out of state student.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It’s going to be a reach. Especially as an OOS applicant. Work hard at preparing for your next ACT. You need to get that score up to be competitive.

I am applying EA, so does umich allow new scores to be sent if I get deferred? I also took the SAT math 2 subject test, but it was also fairly average. As you can tell, I’m not the strongest test taker, but I hope my essays will give me some leverage and show demonstrated interest.

If you are deferred you can send the new scores and they’ll also ask for first semester grades.

momofsenior1 is correct.

But to add, as I found out within the past week or two, an UMich EA applicant can send their new scores when they’re available, even after the EA application deadline of 11/1 and the new scores will be considered. However, keep in mind the EA decision will come before Xmas. So I wouldn’t cut too close.

BTW, UMich does not consider weighted GPA’s. They do look at uwGPA’s and course rigor, which are the two of the most important factors in your application.

UMich CoE will be a reach for an OOS student.
