im sorry but I go to a reallllllly hard school...and taking that into account is quite awful. Not to mention the fact that half of the kids are in honors and ap courses which are much harder than regular level courses. Something I heard that reallllllllly made me mad is that I heard that they don't even read your essays unless you are borderline. Is this true? Because they have a lot of essays and I am mad that I have to write them...without them looking at them!

and NOT taking that into account...sorry it's late

SOMEBODY ANSWER MY QUESTION lol!! i saw that the digits for umich conversion (like a 3.7-4 is a 4)...BUT...to correctly calculate it, do u just change EACH class? or do only "core" classes (like english, language, math, science, history) count like UC style?

so...does a 2.7 become a 2 or 3

Indiegirl and PinkPanther...chill out! LOL

Indiegirl, you are a solid applicant. Your 3.8+ GPA and 1370 SAT score will make you a competitive applicant. So you have a chance. But if I recall, you applied a little late and that WILL hurt your chances. I still think you have a good chance, but it is a crapshoot.

PinkPanther, Michigan does not look at +s and -s. A 2.7 remains a 2.7. They do not round the entire GPA, only the individual grades. Of course, once your cummulative GPA has been recalculated, Michigan rounds to the nearest 10th. So, if you have a 3.67 Michigan GPA, it will be rounded to a 3.7. And Michigan only looks at Core Classes...I believe. So PE, Religion, UWFE (Under Water Fire Extinguishing) and DAOF (Dinosaurs and other Failures) do not count! LOL

ohh i mean a 2.7 grade in an individual class, not a gpa

would philosophy count? :)

PinkPanther...you really are a nervous little thing aren't you?! LOL Yes, a 2.7 (B-) translates into a 3.0 (B)

And I do not think Philosophy would count as part of your GPA, but if you did well in Philosophy, it cannot hurt.

thanks alexandre! yes i am ridiculously nervous... i need to get into umich, unc, or usc otherwise i have no where to go lol

one thing- does umich use a 1) research class 2) music class(orhes/band) into the gpa?

alexandre says they only count core classes, and i am GUESSING core classes are the usual (math, science, english, 2nd language, history)...so maybe that but i dunno
