I have narrowed my choice to Michigan and UNC. I have been admitted to the Honors program at Michigan but not UNC. I am interested in biology and plan to apply to med school. Any advice would be appreciated.

Mich b/c of honors

I would definitely say that honors gives Mich the edge over UNC.

Look at UNC's bio department and how their students do at med school admissions. Also, consider what the GPA in/deflation is at each school, since you'll want a solid GPA if you want to go into med.

(I know previous posts have gone over how Michigan does in these affairs, so search the forum a bit, and then find UNC's data.)

If you are from NC and get instate tuition, go to UNC. Otherwise, go to Michigan.

Because you were accepted into Michigan's honors and not UNC's, I'd go with U-M, even if you're a North Carolina resident. You'll get access to UM's top science profs and, perhaps, have a leg up to get into Michigan's superior med school. At UNC, fine though it is, you'd just be another fish in typical major big state school environment.

i don't know how much honors is going to affect your college experience, but i'd still say that itll tip the scale in the way of umich. if you live in north carolina, though, id go with UNC. money is money

Michigan isn't worth an extra almost 10K/year, even if you are OOS to both. Go to UNC
