Mid Term Grades: ***!?

I'm currently applying to transfer from Vassar College to several places. Two issues have come up concerning mid term grades that I don't know how to handle. First, there seems to be a form on common application that says Mid Term Report. I called up some of the schools though, and they said that that form is only required for first year applicants not transfers. Is this something I need to send? Second, I talked to the registrar, and they said that Vassar doesn't update the transcript to reflect midterm grades, nor does it release them. Only the final grades are released at the end of the semester. Does this mean I only have to send colleges my final grades for the second semester, or do I also have to send them midterm grades anyways? Thanks to anyone who replies; these are questions I really need some help answering!

Some colleges require midterm grades, others do not. You have to have each professor fill out out the form with your grade and any comments and have the prof sign it.

That’s backwards from what many of the colleges told me. They said the form was not necessary, but that the grades were. However, they all said “if possible”. In light of Vassar’s policy of not updating the transcript till the end of the semester or releasing midterm grades, I’m unsure whether that means I don’t have to send in midterm grades.

My former college didn’t have my midterm grades recorded either at the registrar’s office. When I transferred, I had my professors fill out a form with my grades and their signatures. In my experience, colleges that wanted midterm grades posted a form for this purpose on their website.

If your grades are good, then a midterm report can only help you.

I saw the midterm report and all it needs is a grade from your professor and a signature. I don’t think you need anything official from the registrar. I know all transfer schools don’t require it but most will let you send it in anyways.

Does that mean I have to send my midterm grades, or can I choose not to?

This isn’t just Vassar’s policy, no college updates transcripts with midterm grades, that’s just in HS.

This is totally up to the individual schools you are applying to, if they say it’s not required for transfers, then you can choose not to send it.
