Mid-year admits to boarding schools

Hi, everyone. I really appreciate how helpful everyone has been.

My D is applying for transfer admission to several boarding schools. She's in 10th grade now.

On top of the usual stress from overcommitment and academics, I'm now seeing SAT prep and application stress creeping in, which concerns me. The thought of having to wait until next spring is not appealing.

My D asked about mid-year admission. I know Solebury does this (although it may be based in part on availability of dorm space there). Which other boarding schools do?

Westover had a couple of mid-year transfers (arrivals) last winter.

Not many do. Reach out to admissions of schools you are interested.

There are lots of opportunities for mid-year transfers, but they aren’t well advertised. Aside from the “top 20 or 30” I’d say it is safe to ask any other boarding school and they will probably have a mid year entry spot as long as you are a full pay student. good luck

DD has decided to attend White Mountain School in Bethlehem, NH. She will start there in a week’s time. Thanks to all for your advice and counsel.

The most selective schools do not permit it, but many, many other schools do.
