Well heres my deal, i am looking to transfer into boarding school in the 5th form. I have ok grades high 80's to 90's did good on mt SSAT have tons of extracariculars. I am asking you guys to tell me what schools would be relatively easy to get into as i need one for sure to go to. If you need ill give you mroe information about myself. Also is it too late to apply still? I know i missed the first round of admissions. I was thinking about The gunnery, NMH, Tabor, Loomis-Chafee, and some others. Just need some advice and help with this situation. Thanks alot everyone!, and congrats to everyone who got accepted revcently.

um....acceptances came out today....go for next year

Yeah but i kindof need it this year...any chance?

srry but there's no chance at all.. its way to late.. go for next year

You can still apply for rolling. It is probably too late but at least try to apply for rolling.

If you don't need financial aid, I suspect that most of the schools on your list will take your application. Contact them tomorrow. If you don't hear back right away, it is because most schools are on a 3 week March break. However, I think there might be someone working in Admissions. Also, if you consider school outside of New England, you might stand a better chance.

Don't listen to the people who told you it was too late, you can definitely get into a very good school. I applied in early July and there were 2 very good schools that had room for me (Kent and Pomfret). If I had applied in June, there would have been openings at NMH, Salisbury, Williston, and Blair as well. If you apply right now, I'm pretty sure you would be able to find an opening at one of those schools.

My son applied as a repeat jr. last April and got into 4 schools (two of which you mentioned.) Do you have a hook? He is a lacrosse player. The first question they will ask is if you are applying for FA. FA is usually gone by then. Our response to that question was "not this year." We did apply for FA the next year and received some.

zuzu is correct, if you are not looking for FA, many schools will be willing to look at your application -- and if you work hard and get the applications in ASAP, you should have an acceptance in hand soon.

Give NMH a call, they are definitely working this week (I think most admissions offices are open). Don't apply to just one school -- look for several that are good "fit"s.

I do have a hook ive been on varsity football since 9th grade same with wrestling and goot at lacrosse as well. And no im not applying for financial aid either. May i ask where your son applyed to? And ill call some schools ive been looking at within the next week. Any school suggestions?

My son attends NMH -- and I would be happy to tell you all about it (he absolutely loves it there). Give them a call, you sound like a great student that they would love to have attend.

We looked at Tabor, Pomfret, Millbrook and Proctor. He had a tough decision, but ultimately we asked him where he would like to be if something happened to him and his lacrosse days were over. He chose Proctor.

Tabor, Pomfret, Millbrook and Proctor are all schools I would suggest you call -- they may well be willing to accept a late application from a full-pay student. My son applied to Proctor and was accepted -- but no FA, so it wasn't an option for him, but he school sounded great!

Weird i got in contact with my cousin today who got accepted to andover and he said he had an app from NMH, so im going to go pick that up tonight lol. Ill call those other school soon as well. Im still looking at other schools though. How is NMH? Athletics?

My son attends NMH -- he loves it. What do you want to know? Athletics is solid -- some sports they do better at than others (like alot of schools).

Football, wrestling,and lacrosse?

Blair has what is generally recognized as the best wrestling program in the country. It is a great program for both stars and beginners. Most of the beginners do exceptionally well in competition because of the quality of the coaching. Football has a strong tradition, and last season the varsity team was undefeated. Their lacrosse program could use some more strong players.

I talked with my son -- he said that the wrestling team is very strong, football is improving (they expected great improvement and some top recruits after installing the artificial turf fields) and a strong lacrosse program. I can't tell you the details, but I will give you links to the particular pages. If you are interested in NMH, contact both the admissions office and the coaches.
