What exactly is on the mid year report that counselors send to colleges?

I think the mid year report should just include all the classes you’ve taken in high school and the grades you’ve gotten in them up until the first semester of high school. It’s basically just a transcript.

1st semester classes and transcript along with updated class rank

^^ right. If you have anything new and important which wasn’t on you application, you should have ten counselor include it with the MY report but it’s generally just senior year first semester grades.

Like transcripts, mid-year reports vary from school to school. Yes, it does update your transcript; it verifies that you are still enrolled in the classes you listed on your application, and reports your first-semester grades in those classes. But at my kids’ school, it does not update class rank. My kids’ school ranked each class once and only once: at the end of junior year.

You can ask your guidance counselor what transcripts and mid-year reports include at your school.

what if the midyear report is delayed because of that hurricane? some of my DD schools “want” the midyear report before it will be ready. others say “send them…but if your school does not “do” midyear reports, don’t worry”…not sure what she should do. Anyone have experience with kids not getting in due to a missing or delayed midyear report? should she just send her first marking period grades?

For the common app, midyear report includes any disciplinary/criminal stuff that happened during the semester.
