Hi i have a question about mid-year grades. I am taking very rigorous courses such as AP English, AP Chemistry, AP Spanish, AP US Gov, AP Statistics, and Advanced Art. My grade is slipping a little, but I am still maintaining an A to a B in each class. My grades are not as high as previous years. If my grades during the mid-year report is not as high as previous years, will that affect my chances of getting accepted?

We wonder the exact same thing…

I think I remember Dean J saying that they expect some slippage due to rigorous courses. But try to do the best you can.

Whoa…we don’t expect anything. Each MY report is reviewed as it arrives. If there are changes in program or grades, we may revisit the application.

But if i had a continuously increasing GPA from the 9th thorugh the 11th and then my GPA decreased during senior year, but still maintaining an A average, would that hurt my chances during the application process?

sachipa, As and Bs are fine.

Just do your best not to slip down to Cs, that could mean trouble.

go to the commonapp my report and you can see what the form looks like
it gives courses gpa, rank(if applicable) but NOT individual course grades (although you do prob have to indicate somewhere if youre failing something)
so that means that if one grade slips to, forbid it, a c but you get the rest a’s its similar to getting 2 bs… not to read too much into it but i think this basically confirms that the MY report is more of a check-up and like Dean J said, they could look at a report and GO BACK and change their decision but at that point the decision has already been made, barring something big

shalalalalala-

That’s not exactly right. The midyear report also requires that the latest version of the student’s transcript be attached to the form, which presumably will show the latest grades.

ah i didnt see that anywhere…
but i was afraid that could be the case
