Though considered “white” do Middle Eastern applicants have any advantage in their heritage? I am a sophomore in high school so please excuse my ignorance.
Thanks

I'm half egyptian. I described myself as being north african.

No, unfortunately we don't have any advantage(i'm from Iran).

The only groups with advantage are African America, Native American, and Hispanics.

hey I'm from Iran too. It can really go both ways (asian or caucasian, not white though).
Either way it doesn't really help us.

I'm half Egyptian too. I thought I might have a slight advantage since I was born and raised in Appalachia. What do you think.

edison427 : What other half are you? American?

I'm Armenian, and unfortunately there is no advantage for me either since I am also technically "white".

But at least the UC lets you state your first language. :)

Adamo, is your name adam? haha cause mine is.

my other half is polish. i speak both arabic and polish fluently =) hoping that mite be unique enough for me to have an "edge" on those apps

arent mideasterns asians????????????

the definition of caucasian includes people of middle eastern descent

edison427: hey, cool. my name is adam. i wish i knew arabic, my dad never really taught it to my. i know german though. woo hoo. on my apps, it usually says choose as many as apply, so i generally check caucasion and other and write in egyptian-american.
