So I completed a couple math and foreign language credits in middle school, and I know for a fact they WILL carry over (my gc confirmed it). However, I am currently a freshman taking honors Spanish 3, and I'm thinking of stopping Spanish after this year. My question is:
Will colleges, especially ivies, recognize that I completed 3 years of foreign language?
The reason behind my asking is that I don't want to be rejected when time comes because I didn't complete enough foreign language credits.

Thanks for your help!

If you can take AP Spanish next year[ and do well on the test] then colleges are MUCH more likely to ignore not having 3-4 years of FL in HS. I would NOT stop at Spanish 3.

What if I continued doing Spanish outside of school, such as at a community college or if I saved enough money to study abroad for summer?

a lot of colleges will question why you did not take advantage of the classes offered at your HS, so I would NOT try to rock the boat and ditch Spanish at your HS before taking the most advanced class offered there. One summer abroad will not be looked at as equivalent to 9 months of classes. College Foriegn language classes are harder than HS FL classes. And HS counselors are asked if students took the “most rigorous classes available” when they fill out their letters of recommendation. Do NOT take the chance that he will have no choice but to say “NO” to that question especially with regards to “recommended” classes[ which you should read as “required” at very competitive colleges]
