Midyear GPA dip ruin chances?

Rice is one of my top schools would be a dream come true if I got in. But due to some reasons and problems at school that I wont mention, my midyear grades took a dip( 3 B's) and my overall GPA actually went DOWN by .03(3.63). Did I just totally blow my chances? I finished strong with a 4.0 the end of my junior year, and thought another one would dramatically increase my chances, but I seriously doubt that now...

is it even worth trying or should I just look on to some other schools?

Pls help, desperately itching for my dream school

3 B’s won’t drag your GPA from 4.0 to 3.63…
I am in the same boat as you (maybe even worse). I have 1B and 1C, which is equivalent to 3B’s for GPA but worse in superficial as the C is ugly. My GPA went down from 3.91 to 3.87…
Let’s cross the finger… Good luck.

lol no way I thought I was the only one suffering…
took a hit with a B in AP bio and a C in Calc BC . gpa dropped from 3.96 to 3.90 I’m pretty much screwed for rice.

hehe… sorry my post wasn’t clear… my original was a 3.67… I only got a 4.0 one semester…

bump, did I totally blow it?

I don’t think it’ll make a big deal…if you like get a D then yeah it might be a problem…but 3 B’s isn’t toooooo bad…
Hope for the best!

I think a couple Bs are fine, but try your best not to get any Cs. One of my friends said that he got a C his second semester senior year and Rice contacted him and he had to talk to them about it. He said he thought he was on the edge of having his admission rescinded, but of course that’s just speculation.

that isn’t a big deal. Trust me, don’t worry. I got 1~2 low B’s all the way through 9~10th grade and 1 C in a semester in 10th and I got in Rice. :)
