Do we have to send in a midyear report? And if we do…how important is it? Could I get rejected from ED if my grades are a lot lower than they’ve ever been?x_x

Yeah we do need to send a midyear report. I get the feeling that once youre accepted, your grades can drop, but not substantially. B's would be absolutely fine.

Bs are okay. I kinda feel embarrassed that my grades dropped though..

What happens if it ever goes lower than a B?

Wow, I was just going to ask about this.

So, if we applied RD, how influential are midyear reports? I had a pretty rough semester, so I've got a mole of B's, a few A's, and a C. Is this like a death sentence?

yeah, i was worried about this too! i applied ED and got in and everything, but the midyear grade report is making me a little nervous. what if there was a C (!) and a few Bs on the report card in certain tough subjects? would Barnard rescind its acceptance in that case??

can somebody make a thread asking " how important is mid-year report for RD applicants?"

I already tried asking but nobody gave me an definite answer so, i am kinda worried.

Peace, I would think that if you are already accepted then you would have to do something major like fail a course to have that acceptance rescinded. Short of that major thing, I would think Barnard could issue some sort of probationary status or something should your grades fall substantially. Just do the best you can to keep those grades up!

qtipkorea4u: the midyear report is considered as part of your application for RD. So those grades are considered right along with your others...

ah thanks churchmusicmom! i'll do my best. :) but it is a relief that Barnard wouldn't rescind its acceptance unless something major happened.

Wow, I hadn't expected so many people worrying about the same thing as me. I guess everyone gets a bit lazy during senior year.

^ yeah, you can say that again! lol

I just called Barnard's office right now, and they told me that people who got accepted ED, like Snivellus and myself, DON'T have to send in midyear grade reports. She told me that it is the FINAL report that gets looked at. And we send those by like, July 1. So EDers don't have to worry about sending in grades right now. :)

That's such good news!! Yayayyay!:]

oh no! I got such good grades on my midyear report!!

well, meekwarrior, when I called Barnard that day, they said that if you got accepted ED, you CAN send in your midyear grade report if you WANT TO. but, the lady said that it won't give you an extra advantage or anything, but you can if you really really want to. BUT, she said what matters most is the FINAL report, and that is what is required. so send 'em in if you want--nothing's stopping you. i'm just going to send in my final, b/c i don't especially like the grades i have right now. :)
