<p>Basically, as long as you haven't slacked off it won't hurt you. I don't think it can help too much unless you show a significant improvement from end of junior year to first semester senior year, which is rare.</p>
<p>Best to take it very seriously. For a school this competitive, you want to give no reason to turn you down.</p>
<p>Spring semester it's okay to relax a bit.</p>
<p>My understanding is that decisions are made after midyear reports are received. Midyear reports are sent in at the end of January early February. We toured Yale in March and found that the admissions committee was deep in meetings.</p>
