hey pmcharkins! what's ur stats?

How did u get a request online?

congrats....it's gotta be a good sign!

How are ur midyear grades?

It can be a good sign or a bad sign.. depending on ur grades!

mail them the grades asap! :)

AAHHHHH!! i got one too
i just submitted my grades.
which arent really all that great

Haha, ya, the bad news is my mid year grades aren't that hot...

AP English - A-
Govt. - B+
Hon. Physics - C
AP Calc. - C

But if it helps, I called and they recieved a letter I wrote explaining that my mom went into the hospital the day before my first final this semester, needless to say, I was a bit distracted when I should have been studying...

My other stats are....
GPA: 3.4 UW 3.96 W
SAT: 2070 (670 Writing, 680 Math, 720 CR)
SAT 2: 690 Lit.
Comm Service 500 Hrs.
2 Varsity sports four years (captain as senior)
Strong legacy

Hey 2589, what were your midyears?

Hey 2589, what are your midyears/stats?

Good EC's/Comm Service

do i need to send them an official transcript in the postal mail too???

I just got a letter in the mail asking me to submit my mid year grades. I guess it's a good sign because it means I have a shot. These are my grades, any thoughts?

AP US Gov't-B+
AP Econ Macro-B
Biology-A
AP Calc AB-B

I'd mail them in just in case, it's more legit when you have a hard copy of your midyear grades to verify.

I got a request like two weeks ago... so I wonder...
in a different thread people were saying that three people will look at our application and I wonder if a mid year request means we made it passed one and the second doubted or if we made it passed two and we just need a little push so they want mid years??

what do you guys think??

Yeah an admissions officer told me that all three people look at ur app...

well if u got a request, u obviously passed 1 admission officer who thought u were borderline applicant. If you got a midyear request, your admission probably weighs on your midyear grades. Midyear grades are supposed to confirm any incline/decline trends.

I think u guys are thinking too hard about it, ur mid year grades are not bad! Just send them in and see what happens. They asked for it so I guess you kinda have to.

I had to send in mine...

AP Euro - A
AP Stats - B
AP English- B
Honors Physics - A
Spanish 3 - A
Chamber Orchestra - A
International Business - A

So I had a 3.97 unweighted GPA(one stupid B in freshman earth science), but I didn't take the most demanding curriculum. I got a request for a midyear report and I ended up getting all A's and a B(in a college spanish class) first semester. Does that appear as a drop? I wouldn't worry so much, but it's just that the grades on my midyear report are the first ones that are weighted and I'm worried that it will make it look like I can't handle more difficult classes.

Wow, this boarderline thing scares the heck out of me, cause like everyone else, I wanna get in at USC.

Stats
My school dosn't follow the 4.0 scale, but the 100 scale. And they really don't weight that much, 1.03 for honors and 1.06 for AP.
Avg-94.7 (Fresh-96.5, Soph-92.5, Junior- 93.5)
SAT: 710 CR 660 WR 740 M
SATII: 660 US 650 World 720 MathI
ACT: 30
AP US: 4
Very Good Recs and Essays
The one thing that reallllly hurts me is i'm not in the top10%, I'm like in the 30's our of 220. But I looked under collegeboard.com and it said USC dosn't use class rank that strongly, but idk.

Mid Year (my school goes by quarters, so the numbers go 1st qtr, 2nd qtr, midterm test grade)
AP English 95, 92, 90
Govt- 94, 94, 95
AP Bio- 90, 90, 91
Pre-Calc- 94, 94, 90
AP Chem- 90, 88, 83
Church History-90, 90, 93
Gym*- 100, 95
1st Qtr Avg 96 2nd Qtr Avg 95
* is required by the school.
FYI the school limits the number of AP courses in senior year to three.

Any thoughts?!?
