I have 3 of my 4 sons applying to Military Acadamies. Whew!

One son received two remedials...
1) R251.51 Consult - Applicant's private physician for ear wax removal/TM evaluation.
So, he goes to doctor, ear wax cleaned, positive evaluation.

2) R251.15, (Release to Full/Unrestricted Activities regarding $)

Son breaks nose high school wrestling- had surgery to fix- fully released to normal activities.

Thought things were going to be ok. The remedials were resolved positively.
Today DODMERB shows...

letter sent - Disqualification - D124.50

Someone please advise, is that final?
Thank you,
Worried mom of quads

Well, that code is “Miscellaneous disqualification of ears, nose, throat or related systems.”

Here is what they say about waivers:

You can apply for a waiver. There will probably be more info on that contained in the letter. If not, you can call DoDMERB and/or admissions for more info.

A slight correction to the response. Applicants CANNOT apply for a waiver. That decision is left to the Regional Commander that is responsible for your specific region. I imagine that the decision will be based on how competitive the candidate is overall and within the Congressional district.

I am right now in the process of joining the navy reserves and i am facing som e problems. I used to be a cutter and unfortunately bare the scars on my one forearm I was told that MEPS would disqualify me and I would have to see a psych console first is that true? Another thing is that the recruiters wanted my medical information and said that they needed my psychologist to give them my medical information only concerning my medication so they know i have been off it more than a year and information regarding cutting and the history on that. They are now trying to get ALL of my medical records which i dont want them to have. Am i wrong for only wanting to share that information since there psych console will have to evaluate me anyways. I feel like i may be getting rail roaded in a way because I was told one things but they are trying to dig further. How should i approach this?

My DD received a remedial Followed by a disqualification. We called our doctor right away. He felt he likely needed to write the report in a specific way because he felt that the issue was minor. We searched online and found the details on qualifying/disqualifying conditions. The doctor reviewed the standards, took additional tests and labs and resubmitted the more comprehensive report. She was fully qualified in a week! The waiver process did not even have time to process.

The question to me was about whether the medical information demonstrated enough specificity for a good decision. The fine print on the disqualified letter tells you that you can send more info to DODMERB.
