mimimum GPA calculations

Apparently, Berkeley wants us to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in our senior year. However, by whose standards is it going by?

If in my school an "A" is 4.0 and is 86% or above, and a "B" is 3.0 and is 73% or above, do they use that scale to calculate my GPA or some other scaled devised by Berkeley itself?

A is 4 b is 3 C is 2

But what percentage is an “A”? And do they only look at the a-g courses?

School’s standard. All the UCs see is the transcript with the actual letter grade. They look at your overall GPA, I believe.

Castel, are you positive they look at overall GPA?

Overall, as in cumulative over senior year?? I’m a bit scared that I will get rescinded, especially given that due to the economy, many students are choosing less expensive UC’s over privates and I don’t want to give Berkeley any reason to rescind me because of overenrollment. Is this a valid fear? Can they really rescind me ( despite maintaining a strict 3.0) ?

3.0 unweighted with no D’s or F’s
So a C is fine as long as you have an A to balance it out.

I’m not sure if it’s cumulative…but I think you should have at least a 3.0 both semesters just to be safe.

do they only look at the a-g courses, or everything you’ve taken?

a-g in senior year.

so theoretically, if my unweighted gpa for my entire courseload for my senior year is 2.5, but my unweighted gpa for a-g courses is 3.5, then I’d ok?

I have a new questions…

What if I had 90%(A) in the first two terms, and 0%(I/F) in the third term, giving me an average of 60% (C-)? In any case, my unweighted GPA for my entire senior year will be above 3.0, and this course is a really trivial elective (it’s service where you mark tests for teachers…).

And there is a person (phone? email) at Berkeley that I could definitively ask about these sort of things?

I forgot to add that I didn’t put this course on my UC application
