I'm an out-of-state student (Junior) looking to nab an Academic Admit to A&M.

I just had a question about the minimum required science courses which can be found here: Minimum Required Coursework

The way they word it makes me unsure if I'm on the right path.

They say 4 years which I will do, but my schedule has been
Freshman: Biology Honors
Sophomore: Chemistry Honors
Junior: AP Chemistry
and I will take Physics Honors senior year.

The wording seems like I should only take 2 of 3 out of Bio, Chem, and Physics. Is my schedule alright or do I need to take a different science class senior year?

Thanks.

EDIT: I don't really want to make a new topic for this question so here it goes.

Does opting to be in the Corps of Cadets help your admission chances if you are a Review Admit? Just curious because I heard it did and I was wanting to do it regardless.

Well for high school graduates in Texas the science requirement used to be 3 years, with chemistry and biology and any other science course. Now for the class of 2011, the requirement is 4 years, with chemistry, biology, physics, and any other course. So your schedule will be the same as all students graduating from Texas high schools, so you should be fine! In fact, in future years A&M’s requirements will probably come to be this.

And just for extra assurance, the wording didn’t make me think that you couldn’t take Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, anyways, just that you had to have two of them.

I took the exact same science course load in high school, you will be fine. Your on the right path and do not need to worry about your science curriculum. And it’s good that you are already planning everything out and ensuring your ready for applying to A&M. good job.

As for Corps of Cadets, I am not really sure whether or not it effects the strength of your application. I have heard both ways. At any rate, it can’t hurt to check the Corps of Cadets IF you are in fact interested, so why not?

Alright, thank you both for your assurance. I thought it would be weird if they didn’t let me take that courseload but I’m not willing to take any chances on my number one school.

Now I just gotta get that 1300 SAT and I’ll be golden.
