Minimums?

So its shameful to say but I have an overall 2.8gpa while applying to transfer this year. While this allows me to apply for UC transfer after looking at the admission websites I am getting very nervous as they state the minimum requirements for my major (Chemistry) include getting at least a C in my major specific classes and at least a 2.5 overall in my first 2 Gen Chem and Calc classes. Being a cocky kid coming into community college I unfortunately only got C’s in those first 2 semesters:(. I quickly realized my mistake and have cleaned up my act since then but I’m worried that first year is going to stop me from ever getting out of CC since I unfortunately can’t retake them. I have finished all prep courses and my IGETC but I’m still worried. I am just asking if someone even knows if it is POSSIBLE they will except me like this.

Here is the Transfer UC GPA by campus and major for 2017 so it will give you an idea of your chances:

Ok, well you cannot repeat C grades, but in theory you could retake if you were sure you’d get As and note in the additional comments when you apply that you know you aren’t getting credit but retook to strengthen your knowledge after a bad start and to show the UC that you have the chops. It’s better than nothing.

UCM looks like a solid school with your GPA. You have a bit of a chance at UCR, and UCSC.

I believe ImJustaPerson is right. It’s gonna be tough but you still have a shot at UCM, UCR, and UCSC since you have all your prereqs done
Or do what Ohm said and see if your school will still let you retake it even without credit, and reapply next year as a stronger candidate. My school doesn’t let us do that if you got at least a C.
Are you able to get ARs for Cs? I’m not sure how AR works at all.

@ericbadmon is correct. If it’s the same CCC I’m
not sure they’ll let you retake. If it’s somewhere else, they won’t know.

Thank you for the suggestions I had no idea I could do a retake without taking the credit. Right now my hopes are for UCSC but if not I will hit the books for another year.

@ironshah keep in mind UCSC is taking practically any transfer who is remotely eligible (so they say), so you might be OK.
