Hi

I am planning on double majoring in math and econ.

If that proves too hard I might major in math with a concentration in econ or a minor in econ.

What's the difference between minor and concentration?

Hi

I am planning on double majoring in math and econ.

If that proves too hard I might major in math with a concentration in econ or a minor in econ.

What's the difference between minor and concentration?

I think that econ major + math minor might be more useful than math major + econ minor

a concentration is within your major. So within your math major, there is an econ concentration. I don’t know exactly how this works in math, but basically you are taking a course of upper division math and/or econ courses that work to build an econ concentration within your major.

A minor is seperate from your major. All schools are different, but the minor has specific unit requirements separate from your math major. So an econ minor would be a select amount of econ classes taken to fulfill a minor.

In reality, they probably both function just about the same… just depends on which one is quicker for you to do.
