"miracle" story UCF 2013

This may be a miracle story to some and not to others, but here it is in a nutshell

GPA: 3.37 uw
ACT: 22

Two AP classes
And 3 presidential leadership roles.

That's it yall no 4.0 no 1800 SAT just about AVERAGE stats all around.

UCF started to review my application on Friday 11/16 and I was accepted on Tuesday 11/20. I KID YOU NOT.

So what did I do?:
I literally Emailed people on the admissions team so at least they knew that I was interested.
I suggest people Email Mr. Gordon Chavis he's like the TOP DOG of the admissions team.

And I'm not bragging but I feel like I poured my heart out in the Essay since UCF is my #1 school. So if UCF is your top school then I would advise you to LITERALLY compliment on how gorgeous and academically prestigious UCF is.

If you are losing Faith/hope, Just take me as an example,
I have a so so GPA and I scored a 22 ACT and 1480 SAT. DON'T GIVE UP AND KEEP THE PRAYING/FAITH/HOPE/OPTIMISM

with all that I got accepted into summer after only 5 days of my application being reviewed.

If it's meant to happen IT WILL:)
GO KNIGHTS #knightlife

Congratulations and yes there is hope for other out there since my stats were about the same as yours and I got in too.

I’m really happy to finally start seeing some individuals with average stats get into UCF! It’s really, really wonderful! Both of you had very similiar stats, when I applied last year, and I was accepted. I know I put my heart into my essay, kept in communication with anyone at UCF that would listen, as I’m sure both of you did. It gives me hope to see UCF is finally accepting students who would rather go no where, but their school. I think they may be seeing that they’d rather fill their school with students who have such UCF pride, then those who only have it as their third or fourth choice. Congragulations on your acceptence, guys! You deserved it, as well as others that love the school, as much as you! You’ll love UCF-it’s the best decision I’ve ever made for myself, and I marvel over how thankful I am everyday. See you next year-Go Knights!:)

To WRITE or Anyone else else accepted, how long did it take for the actual Acceptance Letter to come in the mail? Because I only found out through myUCF.

Thanks and GOD BLESS

When I was accepted, it took a little over a week (Around one and a half) to get my letter in the mail. But they had to send mine to a different state, so if you’re in Florida, it should take less time:)

@ writefluidity… Hey, I just read your story over for a second time a little while ago. It made me cry. I am sooo happy for you and your brother. Has life been really good for the both of you?

Have you both joined many organizations?

So…are the both of you moving into an apartment next term?

Do you fine the classes to be hard? What’s your major?

I got accepted for summer term next year. I’m so excited!

Congratulations Joshua850! I’m so happy for you! I got accepted for summer term also.

Have you accepted and appplied for housing yet?

My heart is set on UCF

Thanks Success2016, Congrats on you too, and WRITE’s story was truly INCREDIBLE. I have not applied for housing yet, I’m going to call into UCF just to clear up some stuff before I apply. But I would still apply for housing as early as possible.

WRITE, my acceptance letter came in today, so it was probably in my mailbox when I first asked about it earlier lol

And you ahamdanilbhs, I think the Essay is the deciding factor for applicants like us, so if you poured your heart out in the essay, I think you do have a shot!

Can’t Wait to be a Knight!

Success-Life has been BEYOND amazing, ever sense coming to UCF. I’ll tell you guys, it’s a huge change. College, more often then not, changes you as a person. Sometimes for the worse, but sometimes for the best. It’s changed me in a positive way, but I feel as though no other school but UCF could have managed that. I have met the most amazing people here, people I hope will stay in my life for the rest of it. They’re truly remarkable. I love all my classes, even my HUGE lecture hall class. Somehow, the professor still makes it feel as though only 50 students are in the class, rather then almost 500 people. I can actually say this is the first time I’ve ever felt as though I’ve learned something in school. Rather then high school, where it just felt like memorizing a vast amount of information, I’m keeping it here. While the workload is tougher then high school, as well as the material, and you have very high expectations made for you, you can still do very well. sadly, I have not been able to join as much as I would have liked. I couldn’t find the time with work! However, next semester, I’m going to get involved in community service, as well as soccer! My brother was an engineering major, but UCF does a pretty good job of testing whether or not you’re passionate about it. He wasn’t, and so he’s switched to a major he does love-criminology, probably forensic science. I currently have not changed my major and don’t plan to. I’m going to go for my master in Advertising/Public Relations. Yes, we actually do plan to move off campus into an apartment next year. Hopefully Tivoli, so I can get a pet! But I highly suggest living on campus your first year-if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have met most of these individuals. If you guys have any questions at all about UCF, orientation, housing, classes, etc, just message me! I’ll be more then glad to help!

Well my cousin who is going to Columbia university helped it looks really nice

Did u guys put in the counselor recommendation

Joshua850-
A piece of advise—
Don’t call anyone and don’t bring any attention to your acceptance. Just act as if nothing strange occurred and immediately pay your admission and housing fee, show up on the first day of class, do your best and good luck in school !

ilovethe47- While I see where your going with this, I do want to add that I’m not calling them to bring attention to myself or my acceptance, I’m calling for housing reasons since I live in Washington State. And my high school graduation date is a day before move in for Summer, which is why I would call UCF.

I did not send a counselor recommendation form, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

Since applying in the first week of September!

My grades, activities and test scores compare to those of people who are getting accepted. I’ve contacted the Email address listed in MyUCF to confirm everything has really arrived and to ask for advice about whether there is anything I should do. All they do is refer me back to MyUCF. Really the Emails are completely unhelpful. The information in MyUCF looks complete to me.

How are people getting advice from the college? All I am getting is a form letter.

If your myUCF doesn’t say they’re waiting for your transcript or Treat Scores then everything is pretty much in. I would try calling them for a follow up, perhaps…

I was accepted today I’m so happy!!

Glad to hear those being accepted already. UCF is a great school. I give it a solid Middle Place in Florida schools.

Sent from my SPH-L710 using CC

@ahamdanilbhs, my counselor didn’t want to do it. I’d definitely check and see what they think, it wouldn’t hurt. But chances are the admissions with never even read it.
