I really wanted to request for an interview and i even emailed Rice about it because the option wasn't available before. But i checked the website today and i missed it :(
Does this decrease my chance of getting admitted?

an interview can help, but you can get in without one.

If you emailed Rice, what did they say?

They didn’t reply to it personally, i got this spontaneous reply which didn’t really help. But it’s my fault i should’ve remembered to request for one before the 1st.
Ahhh im so depressed :(

I think it’s worth a shot to call the admissions office and speak to someone personally. They went the extra mile for my son recently.

Agreed - try calling them. If they say that they cannot do anything, it isn’t the end of the world. Just make sure you do the best job you can on your app.

eh… you are applying ED, so they know you are committed. I don’t think it matters!

anxiousmom - the interview isn’t just about commitment right? It allows your application to accurately express itself.

You are just a number/name in many ways. If you can really show that you want to go to Rice and be a great member of the community, and not just a good statistic, it helps a lot.

That being said, it is not necessary. If you can get one I say go for it

Thanks alot guys. Ah im really stressed at the moment. Really want to go to Rice. Are you guys sure i should call them?

it will not go against you if you do. To put it another way, you will not lose anything by doing so but can stand to gain.

If you feel that your application would be stronger with an interview, then call them and ask. Good luck

interviews aren’t required. sometimes they can even hurt you. i’m sure you’re fine.
buuuut calling the admissions office could show your dedication even more so you have nothing to lose with that
