Missed the UCSD TAG GPA requirement because I have a 3.47 "by the end of Fall"

It's disappointing; I was so close to the 3.5 GPA (UCSD requires TAG ppl to be at least 3.5 by the end of Fall).

So, now what?

Your TAG will be rescinded and you’ll be considered for admission as a regular applicant like everyone else.

Check your UC GPA very thoroughly see if any coursework is CSU transferrable only not UC transferrable maybe you’ll find one course that would bump you up that extra .03 that is not UC-Transferrable.

If not then your TAG will be rejected and as Cayton said you have to be considered as a regular admission without TAG.

Okay, I cannot stop freaking out about wether or not I will be admitted to UCSB, UCSC, or SDSU.
Profile:
GPA: 3.6, but a steady incline, I got a 3.85 this semester
MAJOR: English
GE: UCS–done SDSU–will be done by spring
MAJOR PRE-REQS: I will be missing 2 by spring
CREDITS: 60 by spring. (I just read you need 70 to transfer to a UC, is this true?)
ECS: Kentucky Kernel (school news paper), Delta Gamma, National Honors Society<-- although they do not know that, just got nominated this semester. Might write them a later, although I hear they don’t look at them. And about 70ish hours of community service.

Also, I am OOS and currently attend University of Kentucky.

Please, someone help a girl out.

UCSB even though you are OOS I think you’ll get in if you have the Golden 3 done, same for UCSC. And no 70 is the Max transferable you don’t need 70 to transfer. But you have to pay OOS tuition which is a lot more…

Not sure for SDSU.

@Bhav007 I think you still have a good shot as a normal applicant. Davis is one of the easier UC’s to get into. I’ve seen people be admitted to Davis with a 3.0. I would not worry too much about it. Like Matt said look thru your transcript for a course that might bump you up.
I’m sorry that happened to you.

Why do people think it’s okay to hijack another person’s topic?

@smltk1505h

I know, right? You can just make your own thread.

@Matt4200, but isn’t the TAG for the UC GPA?

@Cayton, yah, hopefully I’ll get in with through regular decisions

@Stanx89, I think I can get into Davis, but my first choice school is UCSD

Yes??? That’s why I’m saying make sure every one of the classes you are calculating into your UC GPA is UC transferable some courses are only CSU transferable so double checking can’t hurt.

If not you are still competitive with a 3.47

@bhav007

What’s your major?

Bhav007’s major is Computer Science

I see.

I think that’s one of the more difficult majors to gain admission to at UCSD. Good luck, bhav…

@Cayton yeah I think it’s Impacted, but don’t you think a 3.47 is considered competitive for admission at UCSD??

I’ve seen many people get rejected with 3.7+ gpa for biology major on this board. They’re different majors, but they are both impacted so, shizzzz… GL bhav007. You should check the UCSD 2012 acceptance thread and check the GPAs of comp sci major.

@Matt4200

For most majors, yes, but I don’t know about computer science…

That’s why I put the ??? …yeah it kinda sucks not having transfer stats by major for all the UC’s.

@Matt4200

Yeah. It makes me glad UCLA is kind enough to post such detailed information on their website.

UC Berkeley just states average GPAs for groups of major(Social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, etc.) and the average GPA for all admitted Berkeley transfers to the College of Letters and Science.

@Caytom and Matt4200 I agree college admission’s should be more transparent. I hope all the UC’s follow LA and display their stats online.

Computer Science is not impacted till fall 2015 for UCSD :slight_smile:
I think bhav has a chance…there is a thread for UCSD waiting list for last year on this website…I read people under 3.5 mostly got into waitlist, and then even those who had 3.2 got into UCSD CS major!! so it’s all good…just prepare you’re 200 words waiting list essay from now ;)
