My application is completed for Taft, St. Paul's is missing my 7th and 8th grade transcripts, and I'm assuming Groton has everything because I don't have any messages in the applicant message center. I logged into MyAndover and it says I'm missing my personal recommendation, and my short answer/essay because I haven't sent it yet. I had two people write me a personal recommendation, and neither has been received by Andover. The admissions person I talked to on the phone yesterday told me I should have them resend the recommendation.

Do you think there's a chance that they haven't gotten through all the mail yet? It was sent over two weeks ago, though, and all my other recommendations have been received. I'm not at school today, so tomorrow I will ask them to resend it. Hopefully they made a copy! I would feel really bad if they had to rewrite a recommendation. My Spanish teacher wrote a really long letter and I'd hate for it to have to write another one.

Hopefully they saved a copy for their files, so it shouldn't be too great an imposition.

Andover's deadline is February 1, right? They are probably still under siege while the other schools are digging out -- logging more materials into their system than they're receiving them. Andover is probably peaking about now in terms of materials coming in the door. I wouldn't assume that's the case, but then again I wouldn't lose sleep thinking those items were lost for all time. Plan for the worst...get them to resend; don't assume the worst.

Those transcripts to SPS are more of a concern, I think. They were sent by your old school, right? And the deadline was 1/15, right? And the other schools all have those papers and SPS is otherwise up-to-date with reporting to you what they have logged in, right? That spells out something that fell through the cracks, so I'd re-request those materials from your old school.

I called my old school today and asked them to send my 7th and 8th grade transcripts to every school I'm applying to, and they said it will be sent out today. My adviser at my current school had someone in the college counseling department send out my forms, and I guess they only had my 9th grade transcript.

Also, SPS doesn't have an online system about the status of our application. If they do, I don't have the login information. I called them the other day and they said they have everything except 7th and 8th grade transcripts. I'm not certain about Groton because when I called, they had an automated message saying that if you're calling about the status of your application, look in MyGroton for any messages. I haven't received any messages, and I'm assuming I would get a message that my application is complete.

Jonathan: i don't believe SPS has a online checking system but you will get a letter in the mail saying the application is complete. I got mine yesterday after sending it in like at the beginning of the month.

St. Paul's does have an online application, but I don't think it has an online system where you can check the status of your application.

I sent in everything on the 15th, so hopefully I'll get a letter in the mail soon.

sorry. i meant the online checking thingy... my bad

Herculez, did you get your PIN for checking your decision online on the 10th?

yes, in the letter they sent you confirming your application has been recieved

I've recently received a few letters from the schools to which I applied saying that my file is incomplete because my essays are missing. I've told them that I'm supporting the writers strike, and in a show of solidarity, I am not providing essays. Do you think it will hurt my chances?

You're joking, right?

I really hope that you didn't say this and you're joking...

Don't worry ! Admission office got thousands of paper these days, they need time to sort and key in status for every account. You should call them, let them know you sent everything already. During mid February, if something still missing, they will contact with you.
I sent everything by priority mail with tracking number, so I'm sure they got everything !
I completed application to my safety school Northfield Mount Hermon few weeks ago, I took 10/13 SSAT, all schools got the score on 11/8, except NMH. I called the office this Monday, they asked me to fax the score. I did. Five minutes later, they called back and said it's fine, they will accept the fax score.

That was funny, Hay Seed. Your post gave me a start, so I looked at some of your previous posts, realized you were joking, and then laughed at myself for being such an idiot...I know I can be a bit dense at times, but at least I don't jump out of trees just because "they're only six-feet tall" and end up needing knee surgery like my twenty-year old cousin at Brown...:D

I was just having a bit of fun. This BS application stuff is a little overwhelming at times, so we should sit back and have a laugh when we can. By the way, and with all sincerity, D'yer ROCKS!

Thanx for the laugh, Hay Seed. And yeah, D'yer does rock. His posts are really helpful, but sometimes I think he has just a little bit too much time on his hands...:D

See post #7 on http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/445591-lonely-boarding-school.html to see what I mean.

Yes, it took all of 20 seconds to cut and paste that. I can only surmise that it takes way less time to do that than it does to spend time making up screen names and take on more personalities than Sybil to serve no purpose here other than to...well, other than to do nothing. But I'm not the one juggling multiple screen names and talking to myself. You're right, padfoot, Hay Seed's a scream. Thanks for coming back and adding some levity to this message board. You're like the Energizer Bunny of CC.

Who's juggling multiple personalities? You? I'm suspicious now, just because you and Hay Seed keep complimenting each other. I'm going to be watching you two now on the message boards...:D

Thankfully my Spanish teacher made a copy of the recommendation and is mailing it tomorrow. :D

Hay Seed, I'm guessing that you're the one in the background.

Jonathan1, that's a relief. Thank goodness for copy machines! :)
