Our son just checked his my MIT account tonight and ALL THE BOXES ARE CHECKED! (Well, not his SAT II test scores from Saturday, but all the paperwork!) It also says to wait until November 19 to resubmit any missing items. So relax for another week.

One problem I’ve noticed is that Questbridge, who I’m applying to MIT through, did not send one of these recommendations. After jumping through some hoops, they claimed that they had rectified the problem and would notify the colleges of the mistake. Receiving a phone call from MIT yesterday I was disconcerted when they still hadn’t received my rec. The person I talked to, very sweet and understanding about the whole situation, said it would be fine if I faxed it, which I did.

The whole situation mellowed out and I’m very pleased with how calm the admissions office was. It was a beacon of light in all this madness.

It would be fine even if it weren’t a computational error on the part of a third party.

MIT understands that pieces of the application don’t always make it to them by the deadline. It’s no big deal, and it won’t be held against you (or even noted) in any way.
