I'm submitting my application to MIT hopefully by tonight, tomorrow if something comes up.
I know MIT accepts both ACT and SAT scores, but it one preferable? I have a 34 composite on the ACT, and a 2120 overall on the SAT. My ACT score is the stronger test, and I am only reporting one score (even though I have taken it 3 times). I read on the MIT website that SAT scored might take 4-6 weeks to arrive ( @-) ), so if that is true than SAT scores might not be an option.
Also - is it ok to send my transcript and test scores before submitting my application? Thanks...

If you send both ACT and SAT scores, MIT will use the one that puts you in the best light. In my opinion, since the algorithm to translate ACT scores to SAT scores is not public, it is to your advantage to submit both and let MIT decide which score is better. But there is no inherent preference by MIT for either the ACT or the SAT.

If you want to send the SAT scores, you should put in your score request as soon as possible. The scores are delivered electronically, so it’s not really that the scores take 4-6 weeks to arrive, but if they’re requested after MIT’s monthly score receipt, they won’t be received until the next month. (Does that make sense? The scores are delivered electronically in batches to MIT on particular dates, which I think occur monthly.)

It’s fine to send your transcript and test scores before your application.
