I'm applying early action. I took the SATs in last spring and did alright, and I'm taking the ACTs next weekend.

My question is, can I wait to get my ACT scores back and then decide which ones I want to send? This will be after the Nov. 1st deadline I assume, since the test date is Oct 22nd. Or should I send my SAT scores now and list MIT as one of the schools to receive my ACT scores directly? Obviously I'd prefer to do the first so I'd only have to send the better set of scores... but I don't know whether it would be okay if they arrived past November 1.

It takes a few weeks for collegeboard to send your SAT scores so I would send them now.

Are you confident that you did well on the ACT? If so, you should send them directly.

I think it will be okay as long as you send you SAT scores in before the deadline.

If you send two sets of scores, MIT will use the set that makes you look best.

There’s no disadvantage to sending both your SAT scores and ACT scores, other than the cost of sending the scores. The disadvantage of waiting to send one set is that you’re gambling on the ability of the testing organizations to send your scores quickly enough to be used for your review.
