Anybody else apply to MIT as a transfer student for Fall 2015? I did under Bioengineering. I feel so much post-application anxiety!
I applied for chemistry. And yes, I feel so anxious, too! Good luck to you.
I applied for civil engineering. Anxious! I didn’t receive any confirmation email from them yet. And it seems that we will not have MyMIT accounts. It’s really anxious to wait for three months without a portal to track status…
My only confirmation was the SlideRoom one. ;_;
Haha I think that cannot be counted as an official one…
Did anyone receive any confirmation yet? I only got the Slideroom one.
Have you submitted all materials? One professor still didn’t submit my reference and I’m very anxious now. Hope the deadline for recommenders are not tight.
One of my professors was having difficulties submitting it on Slideroom, so she attached it to an e-mail to the MIT Admissions Office and they responded on Tuesday saying that they forwarded it to the Processing Office to attach to my application. Right now you are looking at about a week late though. Maybe you could call the office and ask? They seem to be very flexible.
Perhaps the “Thank you for submitting your transfer application to MIT!” on the Slideroom confirmation page was the official confirmation, after all.
Maybe… I’m expecting any email that may come from them.
I’ve emailed them and they said we could email them after 2 weeks to ask about our application. I’m so anxious. BCS applicant here.
Does “ask about application” mean any missing documents or the results?
Results should be mid-May @ibtes96
still nothing? are we supposed to be getting an email at all?
Nothing else matters _
I received this e-mail from them 3 days ago:
Dear _____,
This email is to provide you with an update on your transfer application.
As of March 11, the status of the required application components is as follows:
Please fax a copy of any missing documents no later than March 18 to 617-687-9184.
Include “TRANSFER,” your name, and your Record ID with any faxed materials.
Your Record ID is: ______
Note that recently mailed materials may still be in our mailroom and will be added to your file as they are processed. Please allow 72 hours for processing before checking on faxed documents.
There is a chance that one or more of your missing evaluations may have been loaded as a supplemental document if it was not submitted via Slideroom and/or the evaluation cover sheet was not used. Send us an email with the name of the person that submitted the evaluation if you believe that might have happened.
All admissions decisions will be emailed in early May.
Please do not call for application status updates. You may email us at mittransfer@mit.edu with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
MIT Transfer Admissions
Turns out everything was fine. Otherwise, no communication.
So I am assuming if your app is complete they are ready to review it.
But this happens with all applications. The deadline for frosh applications is 1 January. They know that it can take weeks after that for scanned teacher evaluations, portfolio reviews, and interview reports to get into applications files. Portfolio reviews alone can take weeks. That means that even though the application deadline was 1 January, that file might not be ready to be read for several weeks. But that is ok. Because there will be some files ready to be read on 1 January, so the admissions team has plenty to be getting on with. Each file will be added to the reading pile as it completes, and there is plenty of reading to be done.
Does anyone know when we are supposed to hear back?
Its usually the first or second week of May, give or take. See http://mitadmissions.org/apply/transfer/deadlines
