@tellywellyjelly Haha! I hope that’s the case. I feel pretty confident about my application, but that 5% or less transfer acceptance rate is daunting. These next three months will feel like years.

@Med509 Nope. Very few schools offer sophomore transfers and even less have nuclear engineering departments that specialize in fusion research.
When I visited MIT, I toured the Nuclear Science and Engineering labs as well as the Plasma Science and Fusion Center and met with a few of the professors there with whom I had previously established contact. The experience was incredible, and I realized my desire to study and do research at MIT. Hello!
I feel pretty confident about my application.
But again let this not be a discouragment to anyone here, because as I know, confidence is reletive and that’s the bitch of it!
My application is very specific and goal oriented at the same time as it is passionate and dreamy.
I am applying for mathematics to later double with brain and cognitive.
And if it helps you get an overview, I have an IMO gold and throughout these semesters I researched a bit in neuroscience and applied mathematics and found out that I need a more flexible course deaign and lab equipment to be successful.
But it is still “transfer” which the rates add a certain stochastic amount to the variance of our expectations.
