@KingsXI Hey,
I moved to the United States last year. I am originally from New Delhi,India. I understand the whole EC problem. However, It’s wrong to say that schools don’t offer EC’s at all. I know that in India, if you want a work/job/internship experience it’s important to have a connection. I am applying to Harvard SCEA next year. I interned under a speech therapist in India who was actually my speech doctor when I was small. He let me work under him for a whole summer. I also organized a charity event for foster children in Punjab. I was a table-tennis champion at my academy and a tennis champion. I had little or no interest in studies at that time. I’d rather volunteer than study in India. The studies are incredibly hard and the competition is ridiculous. I was not even close to being in top 10% of my class. People would appreciate me because of my interest in animal rights. There is so much you can do, it’s not too late to go visit a foster home and organize a charity event for them. Again, don’t do this just to get accepted into MIT. Find an interest that is incredibly unique and defines you as a person. For me it was Veganism and animal rights. After you find that one thing, achieve excellency in it. You can do so much, create a website, an app or start writing a book/article over that one thing. This will show MIT how unique you are. Don’t just spend your time studying, find and do something you really like. Also make connections! It’s very important to make connections and use that as an advantage, specially in India.
Hope this helps, good luck with your application.
