LOL!! Seriously? :)

I actually might use a story based on that to fill up one of my scripts lol. Should be funny! :D

Congrats on IIT!

Yes seriously, she didnt even allow her own daughter to apply a few years back even though she scored a perfect 2400 on sat. Thank you PD.

csroflmfao.

i am currently in 12 standard and wish to apply to top notch us universities for the fall 2012.
this means that my all the formaalities have to be submitted to admission offices by jan 2012 however i will give my 12 board exam in march 2012. so how does it affect my selection process

@marsangel --Well, yea, end of dec through start of jan is basically the deadline for most colleges. Your app should have reached the admission officers by that time. You receive the results later.

Btw, looking at the way you phrased your question in your post, it appears that you really need to work on your language profficency, friend. You should think again before taking a decision to solely aim at US colleges. In my opnion, you may wanna do your UG in india.
All I mean is you shouldnt completely eliminate the indian colleges from your list!

Apart from working on your English ‘profficency’, as suggested by the “opnionated” individual, I’d suggest that you look carefully at college websites (the requirements section in particular). Colleges only require that you submit your pre-board/mid-year (or equivalent) results while applying. You can send in your final results post-admission.

If you fail or score below your usual self or than what they expect, you might not be accepted even after admission, or you might face some other repercussions of scoring less.

Just a guess, but I believe it should be that.

^on spot :)

the admission offer can get rescinded, or you might be put on academic probation.

OT: I think EminemFan is our next tetrisfan…:D

I am a class 11 student.what should I do to get into MIT ?

You could start off by curing cancer. And maybe follow it up by grabbing all the gold, silver, and bronze medals at all the IOs. All. If you miss one, you’re screwed. This should give you a 50% chance of getting in. If you’re particularly anxious, invent an aircraft made of bamboo. That should do the trick.

No, just be yourself. Do what interests you. :)

@anialways
Can you give me some advice too…I have the academic stats as kingsXI …but
I am a memmber of the student council … I’m the school magazine editor …participated in the mun recently as a delegate of Nigeria…I speak French…I sing classical music… I have given many concerts…I paint Murals…
And I intend to pursue aerospace engineering

Help please

snitch007

What kind of help are you looking for?

@animal ways

Well. I want to know if these stats are ok or what else should I do …I have 6 months left

LOL :D:D

On a more serious note…you ought to be the next tony stark not the next Pablo Picasso to get into MIT…Of course everyone’ll tell you to do what your heart tells you…but know this…unless you can associate this to science…in a VERY geeky fashion…I don’t think You’ll be very happy even if you do end up getting accepted there…

NOTE: think along the lines of fractals or solid geometry/euclidean analyses or Euler sketching …something along those lines …maybe that’ll help you ;)

^I second the Berkeley guy.

SUPER LOL :D:D:D

Sorry anialways. It is “ani-always”, right?

anialways it is.

And I am sorry I am not qualified to assess “chances”. But if you are interested you can read post number 22 and figure out your own chances.

The international olympiads can be a great platform for you to showcase a very strong grasp of scientific and mathematical concepts by applying them to the problems they ask you to solve. If you are inclined towards a more practical approach to science through original research, try qualifying for the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair(ISEF), which is the most prestigious high school science fair in the world. A medal there or even mere participation can catapult you into the best universities in the US, including MIT. Unlike the olympiads, ISEF requires you to submit an original scientific research project in any of a broad variety of scientific disciplines. The Indian qualifying fair is the Intel Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science(IRIS). Around 100 or so projects are selected out of roughly 1500 projects submitted online. Out of these 100, 6 projects are declared national winners. These projects undergo mentoring and finally, the 4 best projects represent the country at ISEF. It is a long process that will require a lot of commitment and dedication but it will seem worth it simply because it will inspire you to embark on a research career. Trust me, I’ve been there(Almost. I was declared a national winner but narrowly missed out going to ISEF) and now I’m a homeschooler doing independent behavioral research.

Did I mention it looks great on college applications?
