MIT Wait List Results

Hi, has anyone received call from MIT regarding the wait list? When will you know for sure of you acceptance/rejection from wait list?

Here’s some info that may help: http://mitadmissions.org/blogs/entry/faq-waitlist2

MIT Waitlist Decisions will be sent today. 52 people have been accepted and the rest have been rejected. Good luck to everyone. But remember to love wherever you end up going!

Rejected. Congrats to those who got accepted!

got a call yesterday from mit :DDDD

i had given up all hope and was ready to attend a local college…
im honestly extremely shocked… i am non-distinguished in every way imaginable… but i guess good things do happen sometimes to those with conviction… idk

good luck all, life is an amazing journey

How many of those 52 will actually be attending?

@bordertexan, Judging from the Ivies’ wait list threads, there are a number of cross-admittants (I was really surprised to see that, guess folks cast a wide net and a lot more top schools). H/Y/P/S are known to have more generous financial aid (no idea about the other Ivies, but I expect they are about the same as MIT), so likely ~50-60% will accept. It’ll probably be posted in the summer.

i heard that MIT was a bit less generous than hyps?
a friend of a friend got a full ride at h, but decided to pay 30k-ish out of pocket to attend mit :open_mouth:

@ggwpafk823, $30K more per year? Or $7.5K each year for 4 years? My close friend chose Princeton over MIT because she got a better financial aid package, but I know she was working with MIT to see if they would match it.

each year for four years… I know, crazy guy… or maybe not… who knows…

mit is one of those (few?) schools that specifically state that they will not match another school’s fin aid package, be they ivy or not

@ggwpafk823, A full ride at h? Is that Harvard? If so, that really doesn’t make much sense. MIT won’t match another institution, but they are extremely generous with financial aid. A few thousand difference, maybe, but not that much!

just what a friend told me, i certainly dont think shes lying…
i was really surprised too, but more likely than not this is just some outlier and is not to be taken seriously without further/any context, which i will obviously not endevour to obtain (not that i really care anyways)
