i qualified for the AIME
but idk where to write that

yea donno where to write half that stuff

hi ppl
especially xtntmx
were ur responses really sciencey?

not really sciency, but they all kind of relate some how to the program
what about you?

no...fun activity = piano

darn =)

was gonna put "i do math for fun" but didn't kno how much icould write about that..

well, music and math are kind of related
i still think it's good
i don't think writing about math is a good idea, because i'm sure half the people applying do math for fun

how long were your responses?
mine are all just under a page, do you think that's bad?

mine were about a page double spaced, so it's good

oh alright, i was kinda worried mine were too long and not concise enough

wow i doubt i'l get in my essays are horrible blah

I can't seem to get a recommendation from my math teacher (he now teaches at a different school).

So there might be no WTP for me....I guess I'll have to just be perserverant.

how about a math team teacher?

The problem is, I'm not on a math team.

gah! Also, my freshman year math teacher is completely unreachable/I hated her class.

arwen15: Thanks for the clarification. I didn't link WTP rejection/overqualification to MIT EA at all. I don't think anything will stop me from applying to MIT! I'll still take a shot a WTP though.

I'm not going to lie on my app about robotics, since it is my main EC, occupying most of my time (especially now). I've only dabbled in a few other tech areas like web programming, a few programming languages, and networking, but nothing too serious to consider myself overqualified. There may be hope?

oh, yeah i had a problem getting a rec from a math teacher too
luckily, my math circle teacher offered
can you ask your teacher from this year?

^ oh definitely, my math teacher knows more about me than i had thought she would since i've only had her for 1 year

I don't feel like any of my teachers know me that well, except maybe my APUSH teacher
I had my physics teacher from this year write my letter, which im kinda worries about since idk if i "express curiosity, interest, or excitement" about physics in that class, especially since it's first thing in the morning :-P
but i get good grades so i'm sure he'll say im a good student
how do you guys feel about your recs?

my math teacher uses my name in all his word problems is that weird

hahaha that's kinda sketchy
math problems usually have somewhat unconventional names in them, I don't know why that is
I don't think I've ever seen a math problem with my name in it (Liz)
but they have a lot of random names
and then some are like, Al Bob and Carl

lol but he always uses ppls names, and u kno cuz nobody has some of the names (olympia)

my name is pretty common tho (jen)

oh
yeah! i just remembered, i had this math teacher who used to make up problems and put all the kids in our class' names in it (it was a 3 person class though)
