It really shouldn’t take you that long to do the actual application it’s the essays that are going to take you a while. Those will probably be the same or at least very similar to the ones from last year. If anyone would like those, I think I may still have the prompts lying around somewhere.

Ok so during my PSAT I went to the bathroom as well as another 5 ppl. When we got back to our room they had already started. The proctor said “o we started without you” I was so mad. I had to omitt like a total of 15 questions plus i lost my concentration. I ended up with a 163 total killing national Hispanic recognition plus mites? I got 75 percentile. Is the 163 too low for mites??

I just heard about MITES, and it seems amazing. Only problem is that I’m a Caucasian (Jewish) girl. I also go to a private school which is not very racially diverse. Does this basically make it impossible for me to get in? I’d really like to apply, even if my chances are lower.

@MollyMIT: Last year, I didn’t get my scores until January, it was no big deal for the application, and no you don’t need to send directly, I believe self-reported is fine, although they may ask for a copy of the report.

@CranberryOrange: Honestly, no one is a shoe-in for a program like MITES, and you really have nothing to lose by applying. Just put your best effort into the essays and give it a go. If you’re really interested in getting to see MIT, you might also want to consider the Women in Technology Program(WTP).

i know you need recs from current science and math teachers
what if you’re taking two sciences at the same time? should i have my chem and physics teacher enter one?

^ hahha molly i was just teasing. All of these acronyms are crazy. However, yss is yale summer session, ssp is the harvard one, lln is this cool laser lab in nys (NEW YORK STATE). the rest are made up. The funny thing s after i wrote down those absurd acronyms i googled ddf and apparently its like a design think for MIT hahah. Ironic…

Hey! i know it’s not all based upon psat scores, but does anyone know the type of range they are looking for? like… 213ish? (haha here’s hoping).

213 is… higher than some and lower than some.

I would not stress about PSAT scores too much- some people got in with 170s (maybe less, I didn’t go around asking everyone) and I heard of someone who was rejected with a 230 from CC.

The most important part to getting in is your essays. A few days after I got there, the head TA talked to me, remembered parts from my essays and was interested in knowing more about me. I thought that was pretty cool.
