Wow that’s grey info thankyou. I got a 160 someting on the PSAT after the proctor screwed it up. I decided in taking the sat real one on Jan 23. Do you think though that a 160 is too low?

I need someone’s opinion on my chances to get into MITES.
I got a 197 in my PSAT. 62 reading, 80 mathematics, 55 writing. Should I take my SAT again in january and hope for a better score?

i am NOT optimistic anymore…
my PSAT scores were looowwww. =[
i really really want to get into MITES!

I was discouraged by my PSAT scores too, but don’t worry guys, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Hey, maybe if everyone got horrible scores on the PSAT we’ll still have a chance! :)

Hello, I am an AA
and i got a 67 M and a 74 CR on my PSATs
Also, I do some science competitions/take advanced science courses. No one from my state was chosen last year… Do i have a good chance for MITES? How does this program work?
Can anyone help me?
If I seem a little ignorant, please forgive me…

Sorry, i also live in a good neighborhood…
Does this matter?

Asked my teachers for recs today. =) Now, all I have to do are essays. Is anyone else majorly excited? I really really really hope I get chosen. I cannot imagine how incredibly amazing it would be!!

Just wondering, what is everybody’s ethnicity? Any Native Americans out there?

unnerved also, thinking up essay topics… :)

is the earlier the better?

im AA. and according to my grandpa im 1/4 Blackfoot (unregistered) if that counts =].
what state are you guys in?
and yeah, im SOOO excited, i used to live in MA, and it is absolutley beautiful.
btw, so i had a low Math score on the PSAT, a 60! yeah i know, but i was in this math competition that was super hard and i placed in the 90 percentile in the state! i hope that made up for my low PSAT score X]
i read previous threads from the past 3 years and about 7-8 CCers get accepted!! hopefully it’ll be us!

dont worry about taking it in january, your PSATscores will suffice.
you really can’t determine your chances just by your PSAT scores, location, income, raceðnicity, gender, and your essays will determine if you ahve a chance.

are asians allowed to participate? i want to attend a summer program at MIT but I have never done any science fair, research internship, or anything… so i don’t see me having any chance at RSI, but asians aren’t a minority really…

i just have high psat/act and good grades, and im interested in advancing my science/math learning

wait just wondering do my teachers have to be all math/science? i want to ask my ap lang teacher for a rec

Yeah, they’re allowed to visit. It’s not like Asians aren’t allowed to apply, but since the program is catered towards minorities, you won’t see many Asians there.

oh… well i guess i’ll just try TASP

Is MITES more based on stats
GPa/PSAT/RANK/ ECS
or essays?
Or minority status/location/income and gender and all that socioeconomic stuff?
Any previous MITES students know which matters more?

TASP is really hard to get into.
Basically TASP/MITES/RSI are the toughest summer programs to get into. It’s worth it to apply though, they’re all great experiences from what I’ve heard.

@nil - I think it might be based more on your socioeconomic status - the application asked for more of that.

so as an Asian, should I still apply to MITES?
btw thanks Harambee for helping out

srry im new to all this, just got a mail today from TASP, and now my mom wants me to search up any other summer programs
