oh wow lol. i just started on the app -.- I’m worried though because since the program is for under-represented minority. I’m an asian and last time i checked, asians still populate a lot of the student campus at MIT…so yeah :/

oh and another question, i’m having two math teachers write a letter, but the application only has space for one, but i’m pretty sure the MITES website said you can include one additional one only. is any one else having more than 2 teachers writing letters, and how are you submitting the information?

Wait if you share your applicationw ith SSP do you have to write a seperate one for SSP? Cause as of now my SSP application is complete, but my MITES application is mediocre at best and I feel like I just wasted my time if I didn’t have to do my SSP app.

@CPUscientist3000- I’m gonna have my summer research adviser write mine or maybe another teacher, but I don’t think my teachers would be able to write me as strong a recommendation as I would like so probably not.

We could get an extra letter of rec? Where in the website does it say so?

Hi prospective applicants and alumni of MITES!

I have been looking at MITES for a long time now and this program looks absolutely wonderful! It also helps that one of my dream schools is MIT. :P

How far is everyone so far on their applications? I kind of feel that I am kind of behind, only done with some of the essays… Hopefully this wont become a last minute applications.

I had only 2 teachers write recommendations; they advise against sending any additional information. If they wanted extra letters, they would provide a space for an additional one.
Finished my application yesterday (yay) now to do RSI and SSP >< Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know when YESS apps come out?

They emailed me back. Only one teacher :(

@needhelp94

If you look on the YESS website(im assuming the caltech program), it said that the campus was not going to offer the program this year (2011). It says in big orange letters “Thank you for your interest ,the campus will not host the YESS program in 2011.” I was kind of sad when I saw it, YESS looked like a great program.

yeah that does suck. Thanks for responding

did anyone notice that the application deadline is february 15, 2010 on the downloadable file? Is this an error? O___O

Submitted my application a few days ago and having that feeling that maybe all my essays were blank or full of typos. This is agony!!! It makes me look forward to applying to MIT :(

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I just submitted and I’m freaking out.
Did anyone take a look at this?
<a href=“MITES – MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering and Science”>MITES – MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering and Science;
Did you notice it asks you to upload a picture of yourself and copies of the SAT/PSAT scores? How do you do that? There’s no space in the application for the picture upload, and what do they mean by score reports of the SAT/PSAT scores?
I chose the SAT online score report thing, and for the PSAT all I received was that giant piece of paper that I assume is my score report.
I’m so confused! Please help!

Oh and if you copy and paste your essay from Word 2007 it changes all the apostrophes and the quotation marks to question marks. Just be careful about that!

Just to shine some light on the picture and copy of SAT/PSAT scores. I emailed them and they replied saying that your counselor is supposed to send it in with everything else as part of the “supplemental information”. Im assuming this means that its part of the stuff that needs to be in before the second deadline(Feb. 18th).

I JUST SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION.
I’m afraid that I have a bunch of typos or that I might have put some information in wrong by accident but I won’t be able to check now.
now onto other applications…
ahhh.
Good luck everybody! :)

what other things are there. All i know of is rsi, mites, and yess.

oh heck! im applying for MITES this year as well, but i heard the program is really selective! =(
i always have trouble with the ‘what are your future goals’ section…

^ me too
I literally can’t think of anything

the thing is, i have no idea what i want to do when i grow up.
career goals…huh?
im pretty sure MITES wants us to put down something engineering or science related…
