Why MITES?:

Gender: F
Region: US South
Race/Ethnicity: Asian
School (private, public, magnet, small, etc.): Public, becoming competitive
Your favorite extracurricular(s): Band!
A quirky fact about you: There are lots of weird things, lol
Why MITES?: Who wouldn’t want to spend a summer at MIT? (Plus I’m out of summer plans!)

Gender: female!
Region: Upstate NY
Ethnicity: Hispanic (Puerto Rican)

School: public; usually not competitive, however, I so happened to land in the ONE class that actually IS super competitive… Our top ten grade cut off is a higher gpa than what the Valedictorian usually has… Lol lucky me, huh? Besides that, my school is mostly white (66 percent), but we do have a decently high Latino rate (30 percent). Only 4 percent black though, and .1 percent Asian. I think 40% of our school is considered low income… Only 25 percent of our graduating classes go to 4 year colleges, and 49 percent go to 2 years… Our average SATs are pretty low… Either around the average or slightly lower. All in the 400s… Mid-high 400s. Other than that, I think that’s all I can tell you. Lmao.

Favorite extra-curricular: Definitely STEP… (science technology entry program) those guys are seriously my 2nd family! <3

Quirky fact: I’m a vegetarian… With vegan tendencies. Lmao

Why MITES? It’s perfect for me… An entire summer, studying science and math… And it’s aimed for minorities… I’m a puerto Rican female looking to go into chemistry… I’m pretty minority :stuck_out_tongue: And then, to make things better; it’s at MIT, which is where I want to go.

Hispanic male south Florida. Franchi is that you?!? I’m Wilfredo

nevermind francesca1996! I texted my friend (whose name is Francesca and was born in Peru and lives in south Florida) and she said she never wrote on this forum :stuck_out_tongue: oh and she also applied to MITES

hahah that would’ve been kind of funny if that was your friend… lmao. :p
