MITES 2012 Information and Discussion

KPaaaa: MITES most likely already has all the decisions, so maybe you could email them tomorrow to ask when they’ll be released or if you can get yours by any chance tomorrow

Yeah, I agree with nater17. I’m fairly confident that MITES has already completed their review of all of our applications and now all they’re doing is finalizing decisions and uploading them onto either their application portal (unconfirmed) or printing off decisions to mail (as it was in previous years).

if u do find out, let us know!

So I’m actually hoping that decisions come out after the 11th, because then I can spend the entirety of my spring break relatively stress-free. It definitely won’t sting as much if my quiz bowl team wins its tournament and advances to states, or if I get a new job and spend the summer working, or if I end up going to LeakyCon or volunteering at Quidcon, or end up with a legitimate schedule for my muggle-quidditch team. I do have other options I guess, but none of them are as glamorously enamoring as MITES to be perfectly honest.

I don’t really mind if I get rejected at this point because I have other options, but I hate having to think about how awesome MITES will be and then thinking that I quite possibly won’t get in. Why does MITES release decisions so late? This is killing me

I have no other options really. :(

I have this, summer classes at a local college, possible research in a hospital that I volunteer in… but I’d prefer this over anything else…

Well, my only other option in Harvard SSP which is wasn’t really competitive to get into and is insanely expensive and I’m still waiting on fin aid. I’d much rather prefer MITES

@molushola I misread the website actually… I thought on the admissions portal homepage that it said they would be posted online because it said “with the information you provide we will send admissions updates” but I forgot that we technically provided information like our address and whatnot. Sorry!

On the homepage it says decisions will be out in mid April. It used to say mid-late April so that’s some hope that decisions will be out closer to the 15th.

oh that’s right! I e-mailed MITES some of my scores and they replied with:

“Thanks [my name]. Your application is now complete. Results will be released mid-April.” It was from ccopelan@mit.edu, Christopher, MITChris?

I guess it is mid-April.

Yeah, thing is that it says mid-April every year, but one year they were mailed the 4th and another year they were mailed the 8th

I don’t think that’s mit Chris. His last name is Peterson.
Good luck guys, try to not be too nervous about it. It’s a cool experience but won’t make or break you at all

Just got off the phone with MITES, the lady told me the results will be online on April 10th :O. Thats in four days!!!

molushola: THANK YOU! This makes the wait a lot more bearable

Nooooooo that makes me so nervous :(

Oh my.

At least I found out that there is a bus from my street to the local community college. Now if I don’t get in to MITES I’ll at least have that as a summer option.

4 days? It’s even before the WTP decisions date, and that app was due Jan 1st :O

I’m actually having a panic attack now…

4 days!? Holy crap! That’s so soon! :O
